Chess for Children

Chess is a classic game of skill invented more than 1500 years ago in India. In the centuries since its invention, chess has spread to every country in the world.

Extensive research demonstrates improvement in math and reading scores when students learn chess.  Thousands of children are involved in chess clubs, compete in local, state, and national tournaments.  Chess is a game that requires perseverance, effort, and concentration.  Chess makes kids smarter, develops their imagination and abstract thinking, and teaches them sportsmanship.

Fun Chess Instruction (FCI) presents chess as an enjoyable activity, game of spatial navigation and mathematical calculation.

Chess is the game for life.  Children that are involved in chess education and chess competition develop a stimulating, lasting interaction with peers.
